Left over tips
  • Left over curds can be added to vegetables and meat curries, in place of tomatoes to make rich and delicious gravy.
  • Left over rotis can be broken into small pieces and sautéed with butter and sugar. Kids love this lot.
  • While making sandwiches, do not throw away the sides of the bread. Cut them into small pieces and deep fry them, when they become crisp, add them to your soup or salad.
  • left over dal or sour curd/buttermilk is very useful for curry leaf plant.

  • with remaining cold idlies we can make a nice "yummy-recipe" also! cut idlies into equal size, cut  2- tomatoes, chopped 1-onion, 1-green chilli, curry leaves 4, chopped coriander leaves, very little curry masala, fresh lemon juice-1tsp, salt, oil -1½ tbsp, crushed 1-tbsp peanuts. seasoning with an oil with mustard seeds, one broken red chilli, one tsp urad dal, add curry leaves, green chilli, tomato, onion,  fry for a while then add cut idly and a bit masala, salt, stir well. finally mix lemon and crushed ground nuts and coriander.. serve hot..
  • Do not throw away the hard stem of cauliflower. Cut finely and use for making soup.
  • If you have so many left-over vegetables put them in food processor, mix it with wheat flour and salt, ajwain, green chilies, and make a dough. Making parathas of this will be very tasty, healthy, and consuming all the left over dals and vegetables

When washing dishes in your dishwaher, sometimes use white vinegar in the rinse compartment.

To remove the smell of garlic or onion from your hands, rub a tablespoon of salt mixed with a little water for a few seconds then rinse under cold water.

Bulk cheese will keep longer when it's wrapped in a paper towel dampened with vinegar and placed in a sealed plastic bag. Re-moisten the paper towel every few days, as needed.

Never wash an oily pan. Instead sprinkle a little salt on it and keep it on stove till just hot. Then wipe with paper. This will clean the pan.
