Vinegar tips
  • Unclog a drain: Pour a handful of baking soda down the drain and add ½ cup of vinegar. Rinse with hot water.
  • Spray vinegar around doors, appliances, and along other areas where ants are known.
  • Soothe a bee cut: Dot the irritation with vinegar and relieve itching.
  • Relieve dry and itchy skin. Add 2 tbls. vineger  to bath water.
  • Remove dandruff: After shampooing,   take last rinse with vinegar and 2 cups of warm water.
  • Soothe a sore throat: Put a teaspoon of vinegar in a glass of water. Gargle, then swallow.
  • Deodorize the kitchen drain: Pour a cup down the drain once a week. Let stand 30 minutes and then flush with cold water.
  • Eliminate onion odor: Rub on your fingers before and after slicing.
  • Remove fruit stains from hands. Rub with vinegar.
     
  • Cut grease and odor on dishes. Add a tablespoon of vinegar to hot soapy water.
  • Clean a teapot: Boil a mixture of water and vinegar in the teapot. Wipe away the grime.
  • Add ½-cup vinegar to 4 cups water to soak potato chips or French fries 15 minutes before frying. It makes them very crisp.
  • Dissolve rust from bolts and other metals. Soak in full strength vinegar.
  • Freshen cut flowers. Add 2 tablespoons vinegar and 1 teaspoon sugar for each quart of water.
  • Clean eyeglasses. Wipe each lens with a drop of vinegar.
  • Remove tough stains, Gently rub on any type of stain like fruit jam, mustard, and coffee, tea stains, then wash as usual.
  • Clean the refrigerator: Wash with a solution of equal parts water and vinegar.
  • Clean the microwave. Boil a solution of ¼ cup of vinegar and 1 cup of water in the microwave. Will loosen splattered on food and deodorize.
  • Clean the dishwasher. Run a cup of vinegar through the whole cycle once a month to reduce soap build up on the inner mechanisms and on glassware.
  • To clean the washing machine, periodically, pour a cup of vinegar in the machine and let it run through a regular cycle (no clothes added). Will dissolve soap residue.
  • Brighten fabric colors: Add a ½ cup vinegar to the rinse cycle.
  • Clean the refrigerator: Wash with a solution of equal parts water and vinegar.
  • Clean the microwave: Boil a solution of ¼ cup of vinegar and 1 cup of water in the microwave. Will loosen splattered on food and deodorize.
  • To cook rice without sticking add a spoon full of vinegar in it.
  • Clean the dishwasher: Run a cup of vinegar through the whole cycle once a month to reduce soap build up on the inner mechanisms and on glassware.

When washing dishes in your dishwaher, sometimes use white vinegar in the rinse compartment.

To remove the smell of garlic or onion from your hands, rub a tablespoon of salt mixed with a little water for a few seconds then rinse under cold water.

Bulk cheese will keep longer when it's wrapped in a paper towel dampened with vinegar and placed in a sealed plastic bag. Re-moisten the paper towel every few days, as needed.

Never wash an oily pan. Instead sprinkle a little salt on it and keep it on stove till just hot. Then wipe with paper. This will clean the pan.
